The Pennington Players are calling all actors, actresses, orchestra members and backstage crew members who have participated in five or more shows at The Kelsey Theatre to help raise money for support cancer patients and their families of the Capital Health Cancer Center. If you are over the age of 18, they are asking for your help!
Our production of CALENDAR GIRLS will be performed at The Kelsey Theatre the first two weekends of January 2020. The play is based on the true story of a group of women in England that produced a calendar as a fundraiser for the local hospital's cancer ward. The reason why this calendar gained international attention and raised over a million dollars was because the women, ranging in age from 35-85, posed "nude", with strategically placed props to keep the calendar rated PG.
For our production of CALENDAR GIRLS, an actual calendar similar in style to the one depicted in the play is going to be produced in partnership with the Women's Auxiliary of Capital Health in Pennington, NJ. Proceeds from the calendar and benefit performance will go to support cancer patients and their families within the Capital Health Cancer Center.
As not all months are featured in the play, the months not described in the script will feature cancer survivors and Capital Health staff, Capital Health Women's Auxiliary members, and the people that make The Kelsey Theatre happen. There will be a month featuring actresses that have been in more than five Kelsey Theatre productions, a month featuring actors who have done more than five productions at The Kelsey Theatre, and a month featuring actors who have been in the orchestra or have worked on the production side for at least five shows.
Representatives from each of the companies that produce shows at The Kelsey Theatre will also be participating in the calendar.
The calendars will be sold online, at the performances, in the Capital Health Gift Shop, and at the Capital Health Thrift Store.
